Former Greene County Deputy Arrested for Aggravated Assault and Violation of Oath of Office

Robert Allen Kline, a 51-year-old former deputy with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault and Violation of Oath of Office following an investigation into a use of force incident. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) arrested Kline on July 9, 2025, after it was revealed that he used excessive force while performing his duties as a law enforcement officer.

Incident Details and Investigation

The investigation was prompted by a request from the Greene County Sheriff’s Office on July 7, 2025, after deputies became aware that Kline tased an individual while the person was handcuffed. According to the preliminary findings, the incident occurred on the night of July 6, 2025, around midnight. Greene County deputies had responded to a wreck and arrested a man for driving under the influence. After the arrest, Kline, while still employed as a deputy, reportedly tased the man, who was in handcuffs at the time.

Arrest and Ongoing Investigation

Kline was booked into the Greene County Sheriff’s Office on July 9, 2025, following his arrest. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with additional information about the case to come forward.
